Privacy Policy
The short version
- Your case records live on your device. The Keep stores your calendar, documents, logs and messages in your phone or browser’s own storage. They are not uploaded to us unless you turn on backup or share a view with someone.
- Your children’s names are never sent to an AI model. Neither is the other parent’s name or contact details, your recordings, your photos, or any document you have not asked a question about.
- We do not sell your data, and we do not use it to train anyone’s model.
- You can export everything and delete everything from inside the app, without asking us.
- We hold as little as we can on purpose. A company holding detailed records of what a parent asked about their custody case becomes a target for a subpoena in that parent’s own case. The less we have, the less anyone can come and get.
1Who we are
The Keep is a product of Sigma Stronghold LLC, a Texas limited liability company. In this policy, “we” and “us” mean Sigma Stronghold LLC, and “you” means the person using The Keep.
This policy explains what information the app handles, where it goes, and what you can do about it. It applies to the app, to getthekeep.com, and to any support you ask us for.
2What we collect
What you give us to run your account
- An email address, so you can sign in and so we can reach you about your account.
- Payment information, which goes directly to Stripe and is processed by them. We never see or store your card number.
- Optionally a phone number, if you use calling or text features.
What you put into the app
This is the substance of the product, and it stays on your device by default (see section 3):
- Court orders, decrees and other documents you upload
- Calendar entries, possession schedules, school dates and events
- Exchange logs, violation entries, notes and photographs you attach
- Expenses, receipts and payment records
- Messages you send through the app, and call recordings and transcripts if you use those features
- The names and details of your children and of the other parent, because the product cannot describe your order without them
What the app records about its own use
- Which features you use and how often, so we know what to build next
- The number of questions you ask the assistant, and what those cost us to answer
- Crash and error information
3Where your information lives
By default, on your device. The Keep writes your case records into your phone’s or browser’s own storage. They do not travel to us simply because you typed them.
Your information leaves your device only when one of these is true, and each one is something you choose:
- You turn on backup. Your records are then encrypted and stored so that you can recover them if you lose the device.
- You share a view with your attorney, a mediator or the other parent. They see what you shared and nothing else.
- You ask the assistant a question. Section 4 sets out exactly what is and is not sent.
- You send a message or make a call through the app, which necessarily goes through our telephony provider to reach the other person.
- You contact support and choose to include information so we can help.
4The assistant, and what it never sees
The Keep includes an assistant that can answer questions about your order and the law of your state. Answering a question means sending something to a language model operated by Anthropic. We are deliberate about what that is.
What is sent
- Your question, with names, numbers and addresses removed
- Only the clauses of your order that your question actually needs
What is never sent
Anthropic processes these requests on our behalf under their commercial terms. Your inputs are not used to train their models.
The record of what you asked is kept on your device so that you can look back at it, and you can delete it.
What the assistant will not do
These limits are built into the product, not just described here:
- It will not tell you what you should do — that is your attorney’s decision to guide, and an app doing it would be the unauthorised practice of law.
- It will not predict what a judge will do.
- It will not speculate about the other parent’s motives or state of mind.
- It will not help you get around your order or conceal anything.
- It will not diagnose or treat anyone, least of all your children.
- It will not change your records on its own. Nothing is written to your record without you tapping it, because an assistant that can edit evidence is not evidence.
5Children’s information
The Keep is for adults. Accounts are held by parents and by the professionals they choose to share with. We do not offer accounts to anyone under 18, and the service is not directed to children.
The app does hold information about children — names, schools, medical and school records, schedules — because that is what a custody order is about. That information is entered by you, the parent, as the person entitled to hold your own family’s records, and it is handled exactly as section 3 describes.
If you use the calling features, a child may speak or be recorded on a call. That audio is treated as described in section 6. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from a child for our own purposes, and children cannot create accounts or use the app independently of a parent’s device.
6Calls and recordings
If you subscribe to a plan with calling, The Keep can place calls and record them, and can produce transcripts of them.
Recordings and transcripts are stored the same way as the rest of your records: on your device by default, and in encrypted storage if you have backup turned on. Recordings are never sent to a language model. Transcription is performed on infrastructure we control rather than by a third-party transcription service.
8Legal process and subpoenas
This is a product for people in litigation, so it deserves a straight answer rather than a boilerplate sentence.
If we receive a subpoena, court order or other valid legal demand, we may be required to produce what we hold. What protects you is that we hold very little. Your case records are on your device, not on our servers, and the operational data we keep is counts rather than content. That is a deliberate design decision, taken because a company holding identified records of what a parent asked about their custody case is an obvious target in that parent’s own case.
Where the law allows it and we are not prohibited from doing so, we will tell you before responding to a demand for your information, so that you have the opportunity to object.
Separately: information you hold in The Keep is generally discoverable in your own case, the same as a diary or a folder of receipts would be. That is a question for your attorney, not for us.
9Your rights over your information
- Get a copy. Export your entire record from inside the app, at any time, without asking us.
- Correct it. Everything you entered can be edited by you.
- Delete it. Delete individual records, or delete your account and everything with it, from inside the app.
- Take it elsewhere. The export is a readable file, not a locked format.
Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under state law — including, for Texas residents, rights under the Texas Data Privacy and Security Act. Write to privacy@getthekeep.com and we will honour any right the law gives you. We will not charge you for it and we will not treat you differently for asking.
10How long we keep things
- Your case records: as long as you keep them. They are yours and they sit on your device.
- Backups: until you delete them or close your account.
- Account and billing records: for as long as your account is open, and afterwards only as long as tax and accounting law requires us to keep them.
- Usage counts: in aggregate, indefinitely. These carry no case content.
11Security
We use encryption in transit and at rest, access controls on everything we operate, and storage configured so that stored evidence cannot be silently altered after the fact. Your device’s own lock screen is the first line of protection for records held there, and the app offers a separate PIN for handing your phone to a child during a call.
No system is perfectly secure, and anyone who tells you otherwise is selling something. If a breach affects your information, we will tell you and tell you promptly.
12Changes to this policy
If we change this policy we will update the date at the top. If a change materially affects what happens to your information, we will tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect, rather than relying on you to notice a new date.
